Ep. 23 Interview with Lunchbox Dad Beau Coffron

by Chris Cate

lunchbox-dad

Beau Coffron, also known as Lunchbox Dad, is the featured guest this week. He’s appeared on Good Morning America, The Steve Harvey Show and several other top shows. He’s also appeared on ABCNews.com, Yahoo.com and he’s even been in People Magazine, all because he makes the most creative lunches for his kids that you just have to see.

I realize this is a podcast, so you will need to go to his website, LunchboxDad.com to see exactly what I’m talking about, but I think you’ll enjoy our conversation about what made him want to turn something most parents think of as a chore into an art, what foods work the best for his designs and how he went from being a dad making cool lunches for his kids to doing it on the national news.

About Breaking Down Parenting: A ParentNormal Podcast

Since this episode was originally released, the show has evolved into Breaking Down Parenting: A ParentNormal Podcast. It’s a show that’s for imperfect parents by imperfect parents. Hosted by humorist and imperfect parent of three Chris Cate, every episode breaks down a topic that causes parents to break down, such as putting kids to bed, potty training, the terrible twos, homework, clothing, discipline, cleaning up, cooking for kids, and so on….

By the end of each topic breakdown, parents will hopefully realize they aren’t alone in their struggles and that the craziness all parents go through is actually quite funny when it’s looked at in the right light. After all, the mission of the show is to help parents laugh when they want to cry.

Ep. 13 Parenthood in Hollywood – featuring actress and mom Heather Brooker

by Chris Cate

Heather has appeared in The Office, The Mindy Project, Grey’s Anatomy, Cougar Town and many other popular shows. ParentNormal Questions Answered in this Episode:

  • What’s the best way to watch a movie if you’re a parent?
  • What’s your favorite kids movie?
  • What would you say are the top 10 daily acting performances by parents?

ParentNormal News in this Episode:

Candyland is latest board game to be getting the Hollywood treatment. The plot of Candyland is rumored to be just a typical visit to grandma and grandpa’s house. Per the norm, the grandparents will give their grandchildren all the candy they aren’t normally allowed to have and chaos will ensue. The producers of the Real World and Jersey Shore are in talks to make the movie, although even they are afraid there might be too much mayhem yelling for their taste.

Meanwhile, in Lexington, Kentucky, a three-year-old has been watching her favorite cartoon for two-and-a-half years. Making the feat even more notable is that it’s not just the same cartoon, it’s been the same episode of the same cartoon, as insisted by the three-year-old. In related news, the three-year-old’s parents have been watching their least favorite cartoon for two-and-a-half-years.

And finally, a new study finds that toddlers will wake up and need your immediate attention during the most important part of a movie nine out of 10 times you watch a movie. The ten percent of the time when toddlers don’t interrupt a movie is when you have fallen asleep during the movie because your toddler left you too exhausted to stay awake.

ParentNormal News in this Episode:

A mom in Vancouver, Canada today announced on Twitter that she wants to lose followers a few times every day. When questioned about the odd tweet, she clarified that she was talking about her kids who follow her everywhere. She added that she feels surrounded by 140 characters and can’t figure out how to block any of them, not even for a minute to use the restroom.

Meanwhile, a dad in Sydney, Australia is accusing his own baby of trying to steal his identity. He claims that if you go to his Facebook page, the only person you will see is his baby. Adding insult to injury, the dad has never had so many people like his page.

And finally, a new study finds that parents only use the password protection feature on their cell phones one percent of the time to stop thieves from using their phone and stealing their information. The rest of the time, parents are using the password protection to stop their kids from using their phone and erasing their information.
